Arts & Humanities: Adult Classes

The Y's mission is to promote programs that build a healthy mind, body and spirit: we're so much more than a gym!  In addition to frequent special arts and craft workshops, the Y offers music classes for adults.

For more information about music, theater and arts classes at the Y, please contact Grace Lehman at or 734.661.8034.

Adult Guitar

Individual Lessons (Ages 13 and up)
Learn Guitar at your own pace. Well-known local guitarist, Shari Kane, will be offering individual half hour lessons at the Y. The class is for beginners and for those with more experience. This is a chance to take class from a national touring and recording artist. What a great opportunity! Please contact the program coordinator at or 734/661-8034 if you would like more information. Adult guitar classes will return in the fall.

Beginner/Continuing Guitar (Ages 7-13)
This class offers true beginners a chance to learn guitar and continuing students a chance to develop and expand their technique. The class is structured so that multiple levels can participate together. We learn to play the guitar together, improvise together and jam together.  All students should have a guitar - either electric or acoustic will be fine. This class will return in the fall.
