Winter 2010

The goal of the Barracudas Swim Club is to introduce participants to competitive swimming skills, help them develop
better technique, and encourage lifetime participation in the sport according tothe YMCA of USA competitive aquatic
philosophy. Most of our swimmers move on to swim for their High School Teams.

There are 2 levels (Silver and Gold) for youth ages 6 - 15, and Platinum / Tri-swim for Adults.

Practice Days, and Times

Gold: Mondays & Wednesdays 6:45-8:15pm

Silver -1: Mondays & Wednesdays 6:45-7:45pm

Silver- 2: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:45-7:45pm

Friday - Gold: 6:45-8:15pm

Friday - Silver: 6:45-7:45pm

Tri-Swim - Mondays 6:00-6:45pm

The Groups (Silver: usually about 6 to 12 year olds, Gold: 10 and up) are for the purpose of practice, we compete as a single team. The emphasis is stroke mechanics with a moderate amount of physical conditioning. The older group of swimmers also have an emphasis on conditioning. There are subdivisions within the practice groups so that everyone practices at a suitable level.

Attendance at all practices is not mandatory, keeping in mind; those who attend practices regularly will progress more rapidly and enjoy greater benefits than  those who practice irregularly. If the swimmer will be gone for a period of time due to illness, vacation, etc. Please inform the coaches.

Swim Meets

Barracudas Swim Club participates in YMCA sanctioned meets organized by the local YMCAs of SE Michigan by invitation in the Fall and Winter sessions. We host an annual dual meet against the Carls Family YMCA of Milford in the in the month of March. A schedule of Meets is generally available at the beginning of each session.
Participation to meets is voluntary for each swimmer; there is a participation fee for each meet except for the dual Meet, and parents are required to drop and pick up swimmers at the venues.

We are encouraging all our swimmers to partcipate in our Annual Dual Meet on Saturday March 27 1:30-5:00pm at the Ann Arbor Y swimming pool.
