Gymnastics Classes (Ages 3-7, 8 and up)
Gymnastics is the perfect sport to teach skills for life, including independence, focus and self-discipline - skills that can assist with self-esteem, learning and physical development.
The Ann Arbor YMCA Gymnastics program is divided into three sub-programs:
The Youth program is for boys and girls ages 3 – 7; the Recreational Coed program is for boys and girls ages 8 – 15; and the Team program is for girls ages 5 – adult. The Team program follows the USA Gymnastics guidelines for Levels 1-10.
Youth Gymnastics (Ages 3-7)
Youth Gymnastics participants are taught developmentally appropriate gymnastics skills with the direct aim of enhancing social skills, gross motor skills, reading readiness, and coordination. Class begins with a fun warm up of aerobics, stretches, body positions, and listening skills. Our Youth program is a great way for your child to learn basic locomotive movements and gymnastics while building healthy self-esteem.
Recreational Coed
Classes are geared toward girls and boys ages 7 – 15 who are new to gymnastics. Students at this level practice two Olympic events during each class, learning gymnastics skills in a safe, progressive, non-competitive environment. Our recreational gymnastics classes are a fun way for girls and boys to learn gymnastics while gaining confidence, coordination, flexibility, and strength.
Girls Level 1
Classes are geared toward girls ages 5 – 13 who have mastered our basics program. Students at this level practice four Olympic events during each class, learning gymnastics skills in a safe, progressive, non-competitive environment. Our team gymnastics program is a fun way for girls to progressively learn gymnastics while gaining confidence, coordination, flexibility, and strength. In order to move to Level 2 the gymnasts must master Level 1.
Girls Level 2
Classes are geared toward girls ages 6 – 13 who have mastered the Level 1 routines. Students at this level practice four Olympic events during each class, learning gymnastics skills in a safe, progressive, non-competitive environment. Our recreational gymnastics classes are a fun way for girls to learn gymnastics while gaining confidence, coordination, flexibility, and strength. In order to move to Level 3 the gymnasts must master Level 2.
Girls Level 3-10
