youth flag football league

YMCA Flag Football is designed for youngsters new to the sport of football as well as those not quite ready for tackle football who want to learn how to play the sport, brush up on the rules, tactics, and skills, improve their game and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Each team is coached by volunteer parents and community members with a focus on participation, sportsmanship and staying active. Our seven-week league is offered to children in kindergarten-6th grade.
Each team will have one evening practice and one game a week and all children receive a t-shirt uniform.
The program begins the week of Monday, September 12 and ends Friday, October 28. All practices and games are held at Riverside Park, Ann Arbor.

Become a Y volunteer coach!

Y youth sports teams are coached by one or two trained YMCA volunteer coaches, many of whom are parents or community members. If you like to work with children and enjoy helping them learn and succeed, we need you!  If you are interested in coaching, you need to be at least 18 years of age and attend a Y coach’s workshop prior to the start of the season. Our workshops introduce volunteers like you to the YMCA’s character values and youth development philosophy.  Our workshops also give you the practical skills necessary to teach and lead youth sports teams.  No formal coaching experience is necessary; all we ask is that you are committed to helping young people build positive images of themselves and develop a passion for an active lifestyle. Coaches training will take place at the Ann Arbor YMCA on Wednesday, September 7 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Steve Petty at (734) 661-8018 or email spetty@annarborymca.org.
