youth flag football league
YMCA Flag Football is an instructional program designed for youngsters new to the sport of football as well as those not quite ready for tackle football who want to learn how to play the sport, brush up on the rules, tactics, and skills, improve their game and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Each team is coached by volunteer parents and community members with a focus on participation, sportsmanship and staying active. Each team will have one evening practice and one game a week and all children receive a t-shirt uniform. Our 7-week league is offered to children in kindergarten-8th grade. The program begins the week of Monday, September 10 and ends Friday, October 26. All practices and games are held at Riverside Park, Ann Arbor.
We offer three divisions based on your child’s grade:
Rookies (Kindergarten/1st Grade):
One 25 minute practice, followed by a 25 minute game, once a week. Coaches play as quarterbacks using hand offs & run plays. Pee wee, soft grip footballs for small hands. 6 v 6.
Winners (Grades 2-3):
One 55 minute practice and one game a week. Practice times available Monday or Tuesday evenings. Games are held on Friday evening. Coaches teach running and passing plays. Junior sized footballs for small hands. 6 v 6.
Champions (Grades 4-5):
One 55 minute practice and one game a week. Practice times available Monday or Tuesday evenings. Games are held on Friday evening. Coaches focus on developing passing plays using youth sized footballs. Small sided games increase playing time and success! 6 v 6.
Middle School (Grades 6-8):
One 55 minute practice and one game a week. Practice times available Monday or Tuesday evenings. Games are held on Friday evening. Score is kept in our middle school league program. 6 v 6.
