Become a Volunteer Youth Sports Coach at the Y!
Kids love playing sports, but every team needs a coach. YMCA sports teams are coached by volunteers just like you. As a volunteer coach, you help shape and support your community by sharing your talents as you encourage, guide and train young athletes. We value your involvement in the Youth Sports Program and your impact in influencing positive growth and development for young people.
The YMCA takes pride in providing our youth with the best possible instruction. In doing so, each of our Coaches is expected to attend our pre-season training program along with completing our volunteer application and undergoing a background check.
We are currently recruiting volunteer coaches for flag football and soccer leagues.
Team Coach Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate team practices and games one evening per week.
- Attend all practices/games - held at Virginia Park, Ann Arbor
- Attend pre-season coach meeting to be held at the Ann Arbor YMCA on Wednesday, September 3, 6:00-7:30pm.
Our workshops also give you the practical skills necessary to teach and lead youth sports teams. No formal coaching experience is necessary; all we as is that you are committed to helping young people build positive images of themselves and develop a passion for an active lifestyle. The coach's meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Y.
