SPORTS CAMPS AT THE ANN ARBOR YMCA

The YMCA offers a wide variety of half-day sports camps. Campers can spend a whole day playing active games by signing up for either mornings or afternoons in Sun and Fun Day Camp. Pre- and post care is available for the sports camps.
 

All Star Sports Camp (Ages 5–7)

Become an all-star this summer as you kick, throw and bat your way to success. This is a great camp for younger campers who want to try a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, baseball and flag football throughout their week at camp. YMCA instructors will help develop basic skills and lead organized scrimmages and games. Throughout the week campers will also experience a variety of active large group games designed to enhance teamwork skills.

Baseball Camp (Ages 8–11)

Become a big hitter this summer with our new baseball camp! Campers will be placed in groups according to age and skill level. Game strategy, scoring, batting techniques and fielding play will be introduced to all players. Campers will take part in daily batting practice using our automatic pitching machine, and instructors will teach game fundamentals and lead organized games throughout the week.

Active Girls Camp (Ages 5–10)

This camp is a great opportunity for girls to experience the benefits of physical activity in a safe, caring and fun atmosphere. Campers will meet other girls in an environment where they can explore their physical capability and be encouraged to be active for a lifetime. A variety of activities, including basketball, scavenger hunts, swimming, yoga, and games at local parks, will keep the girls busy throughout the week. Drop-off and pick-up is at the YMCA.

Basketball Camp (Ages 5–7 & 8–11)

This camp welcomes children of all skill levels. Campers will have the opportunity to develop their basketball skills and scrimmage with other children. Basketball activities are supplemented with other large and small group games. Campers spend time with our experienced coaches and enjoy basketball on the YMCA court and at local outdoor courts. Most importantly, campers will develop a good sense of teamwork and respect for their teammates.

Bowling Camp (Ages 7–11)

Campers won’t have a ‘spare’ moment this summer as they ‘strike’ their way to success! No experience is necessary and campers increase skill while having fun through instruction, games and bowling workshops. Campers learn the basics of bowling, scorekeeping, good sportsmanship and team ethics. Campers will have the chance to bowl with music, play wacky bowling games and complete many different challenges. All necessary equipment and shoes are provided. Don’t forget your socks! Drop-off is at the YMCA and pick-up is at Colonial Lanes.

Cheer Camp (Ages 5–10)

This camp is perfect for kids who love to jump around and cheer loudly! Your child will learn basic balance, coordination and agility through the sport of cheerleading. This half-day camp is located at the Ann Arbor YMCA and includes cheerleading instruction and routines, team building, group games and pool activities. Parents, family and friends are encouraged to attend the Parent Show at 3:30 p.m. on the final day of camp.

Flag Football Camp (Ages 8–11)

Children will learn the basics of throwing, passing & receiving and will put those skills into action in small-sided games and scrimmages. Campers will also learn about the traditions of football and the importance of sportsmanship and respect within the game. We recommend that children bring their own mouth guard. Drop-off and pick up is at the YMCA.

Roller Hockey Camp (Ages 5–10 & 8–11)

YMCA instructors help children learn to in-line skate and play the game of hockey. Campers participate in scrimmages, play games that teach and refine hockey skills, gain coordination for in-line skating and take part in character building games & activities. This camp is a great way to get outside and enjoy the summer. Campers will need their own in-line skates, helmets, kneepads, elbow pads and wrist guards. Sticks, pucks and balls are all provided.

Soccer Camp (Ages 5–10 & 8–11)

This camp welcomes kids of all skill levels. Our coaches use a variety of fun drills and games to help campers improve their coordination, skill and agility. Campers learn in an environment that emphasizes teamwork, positive attitudes and good sportsmanship over winning the game. Campers need to bring their own shin guards and soccer cleats. Drop-off and pick-up is at the Ann Arbor YMCA.

Team Sports Taster Camp (Ages 7–11)

Enjoy one of your favorite sports each day! This camp keeps your child active all week with a variety of sports such as basketball, football, soccer, baseball, ultimate frisbee and others. Throughout the day, children will experience a variety of active large group games and individual drills focused on improving basic techniques.  This is a great way to let your child experience the outdoors and introduce him/her to new sports!

You Go Girl! (Ages 8–11)

Girls, come join us for a week of fun and empowerment at the YMCA! Learn about nutrition, self defense, fitness, yoga and healthy eating habits. Campers will spend time with positive female counselors and will meet other girls in an environment where they can explore their physical capability and be encouraged to be active for a lifetime. Campers will also spend one afternoon in the YMCA pool. Drop-off and pick-up is at the YMCA.

Gymnastics Camp (Ages 5–16)

YMCA Gymnastics summer camps are for boys and girls ages 5–16. All camps are one week long. Each camp will be divided into three groups based on age and ability. YMCA Gymnastics camps combine instruction with years of great traditions, including camp songs and fun group games & activities.

Gymnastics Camp Levels:

Youth camp: Ages 5–6; Co-ed

Recreational camp: Ages 7–16; Co-ed

Advanced camp: Ages 5–16. For girls who have attended the Level 2–3 USA Gymnastics compulsory program and for boys who have attended the Advanced Boys program.
