Youth Basketball League (October-February)
YMCA Basketball League is an instructional program designed for youngsters new to the sport of basketball as well as those who want to brush up on the rules, tactics, and skills, improve their game and most importantly, HAVE FUN! The winter program begins the week of Monday, January 7 and ends Friday, February 22. All practices and games are held in the YMCA gymnasium located on the third floor.
Each team is coached by volunteer parents and community members with a focus on participation, sportsmanship and staying active. Each team will have one evening practice and one game a week and all children receive a t-shirt uniform. Our 7-week league is offered to children in kindergarten-5th grade.

■ Become a Y volunteer coach!
Y youth sports teams are coached by one or two trained YMCA volunteer coaches, many of whom are parents or community members. If you like to work with children and enjoy helping them learn and succeed, we need you! If you are interested in coaching, you need to be at least 18 years of age and attend a Y coach’s workshop prior to the start of the season. Our workshops introduce volunteers like you to the YMCA’s character values and youth development philosophy. Our workshops also give you the practical skills necessary to teach and lead youth sports teams. No formal coaching experience is necessary; all we ask is that you are committed to helping young people build positive self image and develop a passion for an active lifestyle. Coaches training will take place at the Ann Arbor YMCA on Wednesday, January 2 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Jordan Keen at (734) 661-8016 or email jkeen@annarborymca.org.
