YMCA GIVING SOCIETIES

The YMCA’s three giving societies recognize our members, community, and friends who provide foundational support to our programs.
The Ann Arbor YMCA’s mission is to put our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into action through facilities and programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. We are an Association made up of people from every walk of life, working side by side to strengthen communities.
Together we strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, gender expression, gender identity, income, faith, sexual orientation or cultural background has the opportunity to live life to its fullest. Membership dues cover the costs of operating YMCA facilities, but they do not support additional costs for outreach programs and financial assistance for the less advantaged.
Every version of our logo since 1891 has included one specific shape: a triangle. For over 130 years, the triangle has represented the Y’s holistic mission of building a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Few organizations can claim this same long-lasting relevancy as the Y, which can certainly be attributed to the sustained support of a very special group of people: our donors.

When you join the Triangle Club, your monthly support provides ongoing opportunities for kids to develop into smart, resilient adults, for members of your community to improve their health and well-being, and for our most vulnerable young people to get the care and support they need. Whether you give five dollars or five hundred dollars a month, every dollar makes an impact for good in your neighborhood.

The Y is not just a place, we are a purpose, and being a member of the YMCA is not just about buildings and programs, it is about being a part of something bigger than all of us. Now is the time to make your membership mean more and do more. The Triangle Club lets you open doors and bring about meaningful change for countless members of our community.

  • $2 per month has the potential to power teen programs that help youth realize who they are and what they are capable of achieving.
  • $4 per month helps a child gain life-saving skills and confidence around the water through YMCA water safety education programs.
  • $10 per month provides a student a positive role model and safe place to go when school is out at one of the Y’s before & after school programs.
  • $20 per month sends a child to summer day camp, giving them a summer full of fun, adventure, and friendships.
  • $40 per month helps a middle schooler find their true and authentic self through their first summer at overnight camp.
  • $80 per month supports active lifestyles for adults and seniors, allowing everyone to stay healthy for years to come.
  • $100 per month gives our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers access to safe and enriching care in one of our early learning centers.

The YMCA was founded as a place where all people could find hope, fellowship, and healing. These have been difficult and uncertain times for our country, our city and our Y. Now, we are challenged to find new ways to transform membership to not only meet the needs of our members, but to also address critical community issues and keep our organization thriving for years to come.

At the YMCA, we celebrate a short list of individuals who have had such incredible impact on our organization, we consider each of them “founders.” Names like George Williams, Thomas Sullivan, Anthony Bowen, Ellen Brown, and John R. Mott are all legends within the YMCA Movement.

Like these legends, there is a special group of individuals who have generously helped sustain our YMCA for more than 165 years. The Founders Club recognizes donors who have advanced their support of the Y’s mission by making annual contributions to the Y of $1,000 or more. This exclusive group gives donors added recognition opportunities, allowing our Y to publicly thank and highlight them as civic leaders who care about the health of our community’s kids, families, and seniors.

Donors who give a gift of $1,000 or more in a calendar year qualify for our Founders Club. This giving society provides donors added recognition opportunities, allowing our Y to publicly thank and highlight them as civic leaders who care about the health of our community’s kids, families, and seniors. Donations can be given all at once, monthly, or weekly to achieve one of several recognition levels:

The YMCA Legacy Club are friends of the Y who are committed to preserving the legacy of the Y for years to come. Through their generous contributions, these people have given the Y the means to maintain long-term financial stability, which ensures that our programs, traditions and mission will continue for future generations.

Becoming a member of the Legacy Club involves a commitment, which now, or in the future, will add to the YMCA’s Endowment Fund. The endowment’s principal remains intact while the earned income is distributed in full or partial to support the work of the association and the Y branches. A designated planned gift will subsidize and diversify financial resources and help fund the future.

The YMCA Legacy Club is comprised of individuals and families who believe strongly in the mission of the YMCA and help to preserve the good work of the YMCA through a direct gift or planned gift to the YMCA Endowment Fund. Gifts to the Endowment Fund may be made on behalf of the YMCA, one or more branches, or to support a specific program.

Annual Heritage Club Dinner

Each year, the YMCA will host a special Legacy Club luncheon. This event is an opportunity for Legacy Club members throughout our region to renew old friendships, meet new members, and to be updated on the good works of the YMCA and the status of its Endowment Fund. New Legacy Club members are introduced and receive the YMCA’s Legacy Club memento. This event will be held annually in late-Fall, with invitations and details shared in late-Summer or early-Fall.
