Staffing
All staff members are selected for their maturity, dedication, enthusiasm, and desire to work with children. Men and women are recruited from colleges and universities around the country and have years of experience working with children.

Our entire staff is CPR and First Aid certified and participates in an intensive training program that covers safety, supervision, counseling and camp procedures. Ann Arbor YMCA average counselor-to-camper ratios exceed state guidelines to ensure that your child receives the best care and attention possible. Staff application is available here

Refund/Transfer Policy
Deposits are non-refundable under any circumstances. Up to seven days before the beginning of your camp, all funds, less the deposit, are refundable and transferable within other day camp programs. This includes transfers to a new session and/or current day camp balance dues.

Within seven days all funds are non-refundable and non-transferable to a balance due or new registration. A written physician-authorized note verifying illness or injury is required in order to obtain a refund if a child cancels within seven days of the session start date. If a camper fails to show for a registered session without notice, there will be no refund issued. In cases of homesickness, dismissal, or voluntary withdrawal, there will be no refund of any fees.

Overnight Camping
Following each Thursday Family Potluck, your camper is invited to experience overnight camping at Birkett. Overnights are offered weekly for campers enrolled in that session. Registration for the overnight is separate and additional to a week of camp. Camp will provide breakfast, lunch, and a snack on Friday to all campers who participate in the overnight. Registration can be done online at the time of session registration, over the phone, or in person during the session.

Transportation
Transportation is available to and from Camp Birkett. The specific Ann Arbor departure/return location will be printed in the parent handbook, which will be sent to all registered participants beginning in April. Children may be dropped off at the Ann Arbor location between 7:45 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. and picked up between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Campers may also be dropped off at Camp Birkett, 9041 Dexter Town-Hall Road, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:20 am and picked up prior to 4:30 p.m.
