By August 1, 2018News & Events

We believe our community is stronger when everyone feels welcome and we work together for the common good.  Welcoming Week is a chance for neighbors—both immigrants and U.S.-born residents—to get to know one another and celebrate what unites us as a community. JOIN US!

Saturday September 15, 9-11 am: VOTER REGISTRATION EVENT Election day is November 6, and you must be registered by October 9 in order to vote in this election!

Sunday September 16, 3-5 pm  LET’S EAT! Join us under the building at 400 West Washington for a celebration of food and community! This will be a potluck: please bring a dish to share from your cultural heritage (or just one of your favorites!)

Thursday September 20, 12-1 pm  Diversity and Inclusion Training:  The Ann Arbor YMCA has been a Global Center of Excellence since 2013 for our commitment to diversity, inclusion and global engagement. As a globally minded Y, we demonstrate a commitment to infusing a global framework into all aspects of organizational planning and execution. In 2017, the Ann Arbor YMCA was one of 9 in the nation to achieve Championing Status for welcoming LGBTQ members into our Y community. In this one-hour session, you will learn how the Ann Arbor YMCA intentionally promotes valuing diversity to its staff and be able to develop an awareness of the different dimensions of diversity. Participants will have an inside look at how the Ann Arbor Y applies diversity and inclusion work in its day-to-day operations.
