For Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced ages 12 and above. Students learn self-defense and develop balance, fitness, coordination, self-confidence and discipline through practice of basic techniques and forms.

Register

Join us for our 5 v 5 recreational volleyball league! Games will occur Tuesday nights at either 6:30 or 7:30pm. The first day will be used as an evaluation night to determine fair and competitive teams. Best of 3 games each night, if time permits, you may play the 3rd game even if the match has been decided. Teammate and friend requests welcomed.

The advanced fencing course is aimed at preparing students as if for USFA or collegiate competition. The whole repertoire of foil techniques and the basics of sabre and epee will be explored. Students will also gain experience using electrical scoring in all three weapons, as well as refereeing. Visits by guest instructors and advanced fencers will enrich the experience. If the schedule permits, a field trip to a USFA tournament will be offered.
Requirements:
-A desire to excel
-For current Ann Arbor Y Intermediate Students, recommendation by their instructor.
-Others must have 4 years experience/class instruction in modern fencing (or two years of private lessons), and demonstrate competence in modern foil, sabre or epee.

Register

This class will be an advanced arthritis class. The focus of this class will be strength. Each class will consist of range of motion and joint movement. Additionally, there will be 30 minutes of walking and using the barbells. This class is not intended for those with limited mobility or range of motion.

Class will take place in the family pool (90 degree water), and is FREE to members, but registration is still required.

In these classes athletes will begin to learn terminology and develop technique and strength needed for gymnastics as a sport. Athletes will be introduced to new skills as their instructor deems fit based on their technique and individual skill level.

Students will learn the basic techniques of this age-old sport and work on reaction, timing, and point-control. Working together, students gain knowledge of etiquette and safety precautions, as well as an understanding for the rules and proceedings of a fencing match. Fencing is a mental and physical high energy sport, providing the intrigue of sword play with cardiovascular conditioning. Please wear court shoes and loose fitting clothes. Equipment is provided.

Note: Due to high demand and limited space, registrants that miss the first two classes will be removed and waitlisted participants will be registered.
