Membership
The Open Arms financial assistance program offers scholarships towards membership which allows access to our gym, basketball courts, indoor pools, and fitness floor and all the other benefits that come with belonging to the Y community.
Scholarships are awarded on the 1st and the 15th of each month. If you submit your application between the 2nd and the 15th of the month, your membership will be approved for the 1st of the following month. If you submit your application between the 16th and 1st, your membership will be approved for the 15th of the following month. Membership rates can be discounted anywhere between 10-80% with the financial assistance program.
All applications require written proof of income to determine the appropriate scholarship award every 6-months.
How Financial Assistance Works
The Y is a not-for-profit health and human services organization committed to helping people grow in spirit, mind and body. We focus on nurturing kids and teens, improving people’s health and well-being, and giving back to our neighbors. The Y believes that every person should have an opportunity to participate and pursue their own personal goals regardless of skill or financial status. Generous donations to the Y’s Annual Campaign provide funds for scholarship assistance to those who may need support.
The Ann Arbor Y offers financial assistance for membership on a case-by-case basis dependent upon gross annual income, household, and special circumstances. We utilize current Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income data in Washtenaw County in order to distribute aid in a way that reflects our community.
