The Ann Arbor YMCA distributed refurbished bikes of various sizes, gently used kids’ winter coats, boots, toys, games, DVDs and books to children across East Washtenaw County during the holiday season, in partnership with the Ann Arbor Kiwanis.
The items were provided primarily by the Ann Arbor Kiwanis Thrift Shop, with Ann Arbor Y staff adding gifts of their own, as well as coordinating the distribution efforts for the collaboration.
“We are so grateful for our collaborative relationship with the Ann Arbor Kiwanis,” said Ann Arbor YMCA President & CEO Toni Kayumi. “Thanks to their generosity in sharing items from the Thrift Shop with us, our Y staff team was able to go out into the community to distribute bikes, toys, games, DVDs, books, winter coats and boots. Together, our two nonprofit organizations hope to help make the holiday season and winter break a little brighter for kids in East Washtenaw County.”
The Y distributed bicycles and gift bags at Fresh Start Church in Ypsilanti and through its SportPort Powered by Y on the Fly mobile program.
