For Fall 2020, beginning September 14, the Y will offer a Learning Center for youth in grades K – 5 in need of a facilitated virtual learning experience while parents attend work. It will follow state and CDC safety guidelines. Participants are expected to be able to operate within a 1:12 ratio of staff to students, requiring a degree of independence to meet prospective school requirements. Program curriculum includes, but is not limited to welcoming and relationship building activities, mindfulness moments, get-up-and-move exercises, outdoor adventures, snack time, and light academic support. Participants must be registered in a virtual school curriculum with a synchronized classroom.
Attendees must be free from illness and pass a health screening each day prior to being admitted into the YMCA. Youth who have a compromised immune system or are more at risk to suffer from the symptoms of Covid-19 should not attend this program.
