The YMCA believes that every person should have an opportunity to participate in the Y and pursue their own personal goals regardless of skill or financial level. Because of our service and dedication to our community, we offer membership and program funding. Please feel free to review the department information and the links to the programs where scholarships are available.

Financial Assistance approval is based on a sliding fee scale designed to fit individual financial situations. Available funding is based on personal need, enrollment, and our financial resources.

Membership

The Open Arms financial assistance program offers scholarships towards membership which allows access to our gym, basketball courts, indoor pools and fitness floor and all the other benefits that come with belonging to the Y community. Scholarships are awarded on the 1st and the 15th of each month. If you submit your application between the 1st and the 14th of the month, your membership will be approved for the 1st of the following month. If you submit your application between the 15th and 31st, your membership will be approved for the 15th of the following month. All applications require written proof of income to determine the appropriate scholarship award every 6 months.  For more information, please contact James Highsmith, Assistant Membership Director, at jhighsmith@annarborymca.org or 734.661.8007.

Day Camps

YMCA summer day camps are all about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities and make lasting friendships and memories. We do our very best to ensure every child has an opportunity to attend camp and we look forward to receiving your application for financial assistance. We evaluate scholarship applications and distribute funds based on family income, number of household members and cover letters.

How do I apply for a scholarship?
Thanks to the generous efforts of our donors via the Ann Arbor YMCA’s Annual Campaign, we are able to provide scholarships for 2018 day camps.

Registration can be accessed through your CampInTouch account, through the link provided via email to returning campers or through the Ann Arbor YMCA website. If you or a sibling attended in 2017 you already have a CampInTouch account. This account can be accessed using this webpage: https://annarborymca.campintouch.com/v2/login.aspx

Scholarship applications are submitted online during the registration process through your CampInTouch account. We recommend signing your camper up for his or her session(s) of choice as soon as registration opens so that your campers spot is reserved while we review your scholarship application. When prompted during registration, select you are applying for a scholarship and fill out the scholarship application on the following page. Income documentation is required for all scholarship requests and can be submitted during the CampInTouch registration process or by email, fax or in-person at the Ann Arbor YMCA once registration is completed. Scholarship applicants are required to pay a $10 deposit per camp to complete registration and reserve their campers spot in camp. Scholarship applications with documentation are due by March 15th, 2018. Parents can expect to hear back regarding the status of their scholarship award on April 6th, 2018.

If you have any questions or would like a paper copy of the scholarship application instead, please contact Assistant Membership Director, James Highsmith at (734)661-8007 or jhighsmith@annarborymca.org
