Visual Voices at the Y

Visual Voices is a seven-week digital media after school program for teens in grades 6-12 who are interested in learning how to produce, film and edit their own videos. Through a hands-on project-based curriculum, participants will learn pre-production, production and post-production processes while gaining skills in scripting, storyboarding, cinematography and more. Digital media programs at the Ann Arbor Y work to provide teens with real world skills that ignite their passions and lend voice to the teen community. Participants will gain valuable skills and insight into one of the principal forms of art and communication in the digital era.

 

Visual Voice participants will:

  • Grow individually while also working as a team
  • Impact the local community through media production.
  • Impact the local community through media production.
  • Build and strengthen effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Learn to use and handle production equipment such as cameras, microphones, and video editing software.
  • Produce a film of their choice.
