To make necessary upgrades and improvements, our downtown facility will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, August 31, and will reopen on Monday, September 7.
PROJECT TIMELINE
Monday, August 24
The Men’s & Women’s Locker Rooms close to begin renovations. The Girls’ & Boys’ Locker Rooms temporarily serve as the Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms. Children under the age of 18 are encouraged to use the private cabanas in the Universal Locker Room.
Sunday, August 30
The Family Pool will close to begin improvements and maintenance.
Monday, August 31
The Ann Arbor YMCA downtown facility closes to community members to begin Facility Improvement & Refresh Week.
Monday, September 7
The Ann Arbor YMCA downtown facility reopens for the community. The Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms remain closed during renovations.
WHAT IMPROVEMENTS ARE BEING MADE?
- Locker rooms are being fully renovated with new tiles, lockers and countertops.
- Family and Lap Pools are undergoing annual maintenance & cleaning.
- Resurfacing of Gymnasium floor and Studio floors.
- Additional maintenance and cleaning around the facility.
How does this affect my visit?
From Monday, August 31, to Sunday, September 6, no members will be able to access the Ann Arbor YMCA facility as we undergo repairs. We recognize that being closed for a full week may be an inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we complete these important projects.

Did you know the Ann Arbor YMCA participates in Nationwide Member Access? As a Y member, you can access hundreds of other participating Y locations across the U.S. for FREE! Valid for all active Ann Arbor YMCA members. Below are other YMCA facilities in the surrounding area participating in Nationwide Access that you might decide to utilize during our closure.

SWIMMING/POOLS
Fuller Park Pool
For pool access, members of the Ann Arbor YMCA will be eligible to use the City of Ann Arbor’s Fuller Pool for swimming during the closure.

How to Access:
NOTE: All YMCA members are expected to follow the City of Ann Arbor Fuller Pool’s rules and guidelines.
- Introduce yourself as an Ann Arbor YMCA member.
- Present proof of membership for each member upon entry, using your physical Ann Arbor YMCA scan tag.
- Only physical scan tags will be accepted; photos and digital tags will not be accepted. Fuller Park Pool staff will not be able to check you in through our online lookup system.
- If you need to replace your scan tag or any active account members’ scan tags, please stop at our front desk to get a replacement scan tag before August 31st.

August/September 2025
Facility Improvement & Refresh Week
To make necessary upgrades and improvements to our downtown facility, we underwent a temporary closure from August 25th to September 1st for Facility Improvement and Refresh Week.
Improvements Made:
- Replacement of the HVAC chiller unit
- Deep-cleaning all floors throughout the facility
- Refreshed lobby space
- Refreshed and reorganized Wellness Floor
- Freshly painted walls and entryway stairwell
- Replacement of shower curtains in locker rooms
- Locker room spaces deep-cleaned and refreshed, including lockers, showers and bathroom stalls
- Mechanical repairs to the Aquatics filtration system
- Annual resurfacing of the Gymnasium floor
- Replaced/updated light fixtures throughout the facility
July 2025
Locker Room Maintenance
To enhance the quality of our members’ visits, both the Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms were closed for deep cleaning and regrouting.
January 2025
Membership Lobby
Our lobby is a refreshing, new space! Members are greeted with a new membership desk and layout with two ADA access points for improved functionality. In our seating area, visitors can find new carpet, improved lighting, and expanded seating for up to 27 individuals. You can work, relax, and connect in a mixture of comfortable seating options featuring charging outlets, a large community table, and a four-seat workstation along our Aquatics Center window.
September 2024
Wellness Center
We have replaced the Wellness Center flooring as well as the flooring inside Studio D. Equipment in the cardio section has been reduced (don’t worry, your favorites are still here!), and we have installed NEW NuSteps, an Arm Ergometer, new free-weight equipment, six squat racks, new dumbbells, plates, leg press, three benches and more!
Gymnasium
The gymnasium has been sanded down and refinished to bring back our shiny court floor.
